In Memoriam: Ganimedes E. Barrera
The Stamford resident passed away Feb. 24 at the age of 65.

After a protracted battle with cancer Ganimedes E. Barrera, 65, of Stamford, passed away on February 24, 2016 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.
He was born on March 31, 1950 in Caracas, Venezuela, to Erasmo and Cristina Barrera.
He is survived by his wife Leo Mercado and sons Edgar and Cesar Barrera, 14 siblings and five grandchildren.
Gani attended the University of Bridgeport and graduated in 1984. He was a driven professional who successfully had an accounting business of 25 years.
His passions included helping children, education, and being an active member of the community. He was a motivator to many people and was always willing to help out. He enjoyed playing sports and traveling. He was also honored by The State of Connecticut, the Greater Stamford Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Peruanos Unidos de Connecticut and Asociacion Venezolana de Connecticut for his support to the community.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 2 at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford, from 9 am to 1 pm with his funeral service to commence at 1 pm. Interment will be private.
