In Memoriam: Neil Rennie Sr.

The Stamford resident passed away Feb. 29 at the age of 81.

Neil Rennie Sr., 81, passed away on Monday, February 29, 2016, in his Stamford home after a four-year battle with cancer.

Mr. Rennie was born in Stamford and grew up in Old Greenwich. After high school, he served in the Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he returned home and worked for Gristedes Supermarket in Stamford for over 35 years.

Mr. Rennie is the son of Frank and Margaret Rennie. He has two older siblings, a brother Frank Rennie (Irene Marriott) and a sister Jacqueline (Rennie) Grabarz (Bernie).

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Nizolek) Rennie, to whom he was married for 57 years. They raised two children, Neil Rennie Jr. (Carla Pisaeno) and Patricia (Nizolek) Pokorny (Frank). They have seven grandchildren – Lisa (Pokorny) Couch (Jake), Frankie Pokorny, Christopher Pokorny, Tyler Pokorny, Chase Rennie, Brooke Rennie and Cora Couch.

Mr. Rennie was a wonderful, loving, generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed the horse races, reading, gardening and was an avid New York Mets fan.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, March 5, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford. Interment will be private.
