In the 1970s, she opened a successful children’s boutique store, Syd’s Corner, in Greenwich, for five years. Her wide personal networks encouraged her to then become a real estate broker. Creativity and integrity were qualities that kept her in demand for over three decades. Syd retired and moved to the Darien Atria in 2011 where she used her apartment as a live-in studio. She showcased newly-acquired oil painting techniques in several solo exhibits in recent years.
Syd is survived by her children, Rosanna Hertz and Robert J. Thomas, Nadine Hertz Rosenzweig, and Beth and Jerry Cooper and seven grandchildren: Marlene and Emma Rosenzweig, Bryan, Eric, Renee and Sam Cooper and Alyssa Thomas.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Jerome Hertz and her son-in-law, Greg Rosenzweig.
