Tucked away in the front corner of Parrot & Company on Crescent Street in Glenbrook, which has been breeding and selling birds for over 30 years, are displays filled with hand-painted ceramic bowls, jugs and trays, and bottles of imported olives, cooking oil and cold cuts. It might be a strange sight to behold in a pet store, but it makes perfect sense to owner Laurie Fierst.
Fierst's daughter is the former owner of a South Norwalk-based store From Spain. When she decided to close the shop and move to Madrid, Fierst convinced her to keep some of her unsold items at Parrot & Company instead of taking them with her and then replenish them when she comes back to town.
In the "From Spain" section of the store, you'll also find cookbooks, dried goods and cheese imported directly from Spain.
