Obituary: Vito Colacurcio, 90, Of Stamford
Vito was born in Italy, emigrated to Yonkers, N.Y., and settled in Stamford in 1955.

Vito Antonio Colacurcio “Poppi”, 90, a resident of Stamford, CT, sadly passed away on Friday April 19, 2024 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by family.
Vito was born on August 10, 1933 in Santo Stefano del Sole, Province of Avellino, Italy to the late Felice and Callista (Luciano) Colacurcio. As a young man he attended the music conservatory in Naples where he played the trumpet.

He married his late wife, Rosa, on September 18, 1954 and emigrated to Yonkers, NY. They then settled in Stamford, CT in 1955. Vito worked as a foreman on the street crew with Yankeegas (formerly Eversource) for over 35 years.
Vito was fortunate to enjoy a long retirement, spending over 20 years as a snowbird in Hollywood, FL with Rosa. He also enjoyed gardening, playing bocce, eating and spending time with his loving family.

Vito is survived by his daughter, Anna (Matthew) Thomas, son, Felice (Georgia) Colacurcio, son-in-law, Brian Downey and his sister, Maddalena Mastroberardino. His grandchildren Annamaria (Jose) Gueco, Sean Downey, Liam Downey, Callie-Rose Thomas, Racquel Colacurcio, Veronica Colacurcio and Tiffani (Robert) Parker. His great-grandchildren Lucia Callista Gueco, Catalina Rose Gueco and Julia Kathleen Gueco. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Vito was predeceased by his loving wife of 68 years, Rosa (Cimminiello) Colacurcio. His daughter, Callista Downey, sister, America DePiano and his grandson, Cody Randall Thomas.
A Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 25 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Stamford Parish, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT. Entombment will immediately follow at St. John’s Mausoleum, Hoyt Street, Darien, CT. To leave an online condolence please visit www.lacerenzafh.com
