Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle: Stamford Police: UPDATE
The pedestrian died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

STAMFORD, CT — A 54-year-old Stamford resident has died after being struck by a car Saturday night, police said in an update on Sunday.
The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is continuing the investigation into a fatal motor vehicle vs. pedestrian collision, that occurred in the area of 996 High Ridge Road at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
A 2016 Nissan Altima, driven by a 30-year-old Stamford resident, was traveling southbound on High Ridge Road in the area of 996 High Ridge Road. The Nissan struck a pedestrian that was crossing High Ridge Road westbound, police said.

The pedestrian was crossing High Ridge Road from the east side of the street to the west side of the street when they were struck, police said.
There are no marked crosswalks in this section of High Ridge Road, police said.

The pedestrian was initially transported to Stamford Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the pedestrian died early Sunday. The ID of the pedestrian has not been released.
The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.
