Stamford Fire Fighters go Head-to-Head with Police for Charity

Stamford Fire Fighters and Police Officers will compete for tips to benefit the Bennett Cancer Center's 'Hope in Motion' campaign.

From Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association: Stamford Professional Fire Fighters will be guest bartending to raise money for the Bennett Cancer Center’s ‘Hope in Motion’ fundraising campaign, asking local residents to come out for the fun.

They will be joined at the event, which is open to the public, by Stamford Police Officers, who will also be bartending. The Stamford Professional Fire Fighters Association (SPFFA) and the police officers will be competing to see which organization can raise the most money through tips. Special bartenders will include, among others, former Fire Chief Peter Brown.

‘Hope in Motion’ is a fundraising effort that allows the Bennett Cancer Center to provide the highest level of compassionate care to cancer patients in the community. This effort allows the center to sustain its integrative medicine program (which is free of charge to patients) as well as fund clinical trials, art therapy and grateful patient programs.

“Cancer is a disease that we unfortunately know all too well in the fire service, as Fire Fighters are more likely to develop the disease than the general population,” said SPFFA President Brendan Keatley. “Sadly we have lost a few of our members to job related cancer, however through early detection and excellent treatment we have many success stories as well."

Citizens are encouraged to attend and mingle with friends while watching cops and smoke eaters go head-to-head or make a donation to the ‘Hope in Motion’ fundraiser.

Bradford’s will be offering special Happy Hour prices for the entire event. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and the opportunity to take a photo with your favorite bartender.
