Police have charged a Stamford man with sexual assault following an investigation stemming from an incident last month, police said Friday.
According to Lt. Diedrich Hohn, a 25-year-old woman from the Eastside reported on May 20, 2013, that a man identified by authorities as Darris Frazier, 27, of 1136 Hope Street, had sexuallya assaulted her in his apartment about an hour earlier.
Hohn said the pair knew each other and had been hanging out in Frazier's apartment and drinking when Frazier made a couple of advances towards the victim, which she reportedly declined.
It was at that point Frazier allegedly forced himself upon the victim. The woman drove herself back to her apartment and reported the incident to police, then was taken to Stamford Hospital and underwent rape kit testing, Hohn said. She also identified the suspect through a photo lineup.
Frazier, who works at a barbershop on West Main Street, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon and was cooperating with authorities, Hohn said. He was charged with first-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint.
