STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department said Tuesday it has seen "a significant number" of fraud cases recently involving unemployment benefits or other types of fraud associated with the Department of Labor.

Those who believe they are victims are being asked to navigate to the CT Department of Labor website, which has instructions on how to proceed, how information may have become compromised, and how to prevent becoming a victim of fraud in the future.

The CT Department of Labor says it will never call and ask for an account username or password; do individual unemployment claims work over text or text about a problem with an account; use social media for claims work.
