Teen Sentenced To Prison For Stamford Armed Carjackings, Firearm Thefts: Feds
The teenager was sentenced by a U.S. District judge in Hartford on Monday.
STAMFORD, CT — A Waterbury teenager was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for stealing firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer in Salem and committing two armed carjackings in Stamford, according to prosecutors.
Tyssan Woods, 19, also known as "Tigger," was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea in Hartford.
According to court documents and statements made in court, in the early morning of March 15, 2024, Woods and others drove a car into the entryway doors of Statewide Pawn Shop, a federal firearms licensee in Salem, and stole 21 firearms from the store, said David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

Authorities subsequently made controlled purchases of several firearms from an individual involved and a juvenile, Sullivan said.
Woods later committed two carjackings in Stamford on March 28, 2024, Sullivan said.

The incidents, which targeted high-end vehicles, "really put a lot of fear into the community," Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch.
The first occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on March 28 in the 130 block of Tresser Boulevard.
Police said a man was driving his blue Audi to a nearby gym when he was followed by another car and stopped at gunpoint by a group of men who drove off with his car.
The other incident took place roughly 10 minutes later at the Gulf gas station on East Main Street near the entrance to I-95, police said.
A group of thieves pulled up in what police believe was the stolen blue Audi, and several suspects armed with handguns stole a man's Maserati, police said.
Later that day, Connecticut State Police found Woods seated in the driver’s seat in one of the stolen vehicles and took him into custody, Sullivan added.
Investigators recovered the other stolen vehicle in Waterbury, and a search of Woods’ residence revealed two of the previously stolen firearms, Sullivan said, noting 13 of the stolen firearms are still missing.
Woods has been detained since his arrest.
On June 20, he pleaded guilty to one count of theft of firearms from a licensee, two counts of carjacking, and one count of using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Conklin noted Woods has "a number of additional charges pending" in court from Stamford and Norwalk.
