U.S. Army Corps. Of Engineers Is Staffing Stamford's Hurricane Barrier

The city's hurricane barrier is being staffed due to inclement weather impacting the region.

STAMFORD, CT — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is staffing the city's hurricane barrier in preparation for the incoming inclement weather, according to an announcement from the city.

The city said the staffing is needed for potential gate operation during high tide (12:26 a.m.) on May 17. Mariners are being advised tot take precautions and actions as needed.

Strong thunderstorms are expected to move into the area early Monday evening. Several warnings have been issued from The National Weather Service
