Wayward Horse Rescued Near Merritt Parkway In Stamford: State Police

State police said they responded Tuesday morning on a report of a horse in the roadway.

STAMFORD, CT — A wayward horse was rescued near the Merritt Parkway Tuesday morning, according to Connecticut State Police.

At approximately 7:24 a.m., personnel from CSP Troop G responded to Route 15 southbound in the area of Exit 9 in Stamford on a report of a horse in the roadway, state police told Patch, citing preliminary information.

Troopers located the horse in the grass by the Guinea Road overpass, state police said.

A local barn was contacted and confirmed to be the owner of the horse, state police added. The owner responded to the scene to retrieve the horse and take it back home.

"Just horsin’ around on Route 15 in Stamford! Thanks to Trooper Wang and Trooper Cardenas, this four-legged friend was safely guided back to its 'neigh'-borhood," state police posted on Facebook.
