Winter Storm Update: Stamford Residents Urged To Stay Off Roads
As of Saturday afternoon, Stamford's Emergency Operations Center reported two minor car accidents. Nearly 70 customers are without power.
STAMFORD, CT — A snow emergency remains in effect for Stamford, and residents are urged to remain off the roads to allow operations crews to properly clear snow.
As of 4 p.m., Stamford's Emergency Operations Center reported two minor car accidents around the city. Eversource's outage map shows 65 customers without power in the area of Saddle Hill, Rockrimmon Road and Briar Brae Road. Utility crews have been dispatched, the city noted.
One tree is reported down on Pepper Ridge Road; Stamford fire units are on the scene.

According to the latest update from the city, over 8 inches of snow has been reported so far in the city. An additional 2-4 inches of snow is predicted to fall before the storm moves out of the area later today.
Crews are continuing to respond to the storm with more than 80 people and approximately 40 snow plows and spreaders.

Operations crews began treating roads Friday night at around 7 p.m. Personnel will continue to clear and treat roads into Sunday due to the sub-freezing temperatures. Black ice is a concern, the city said Friday afternoon.
During the snow emergency, designated routes should be clear of vehicles to allow for the removal of snow. The routes are clearly marked with red and white signage.

Cars will be ticketed and towed while the snow emergency is in effect. All city garages will be open and free for residents to use until Sunday at 6 p.m.
In total, 32 vehicles that did not comply with the clearing of vehicles off snow emergency routes have been towed.
If your vehicle has been towed, call 203-977-4444 to provide a license plate number and directions will be provided.
Stamford has a "Removal of Snow and Ice Ordinance" requiring snow to be removed within 12 hours after snow fall or freezing; or if such fall or freezing is in the nighttime, before 10 a.m. the succeeding day. Any person who violates this section shall be fined $90 for each offense.
The Stamford Government Center is available as a warming center. Overnight shelters and other pertinent information is available on the city's website.
