Chess Cruises To Victory In Stratford Democratic Mayoral Primary Election
Registered Democrats in Stratford went to the polls for a primary election that featured races for mayor and Town Council.
STRATFORD, CT — David Chess will face two-term incumbent Republican Mayor Laura R. Hoydick in the municipal election in November after cruising to victory in Tuesday’s Democratic primary election.
Chess defeated challenger Linda Manos 1,624 to 204, according to unofficial results from the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s Office.
“Thank you, Stratford Democrats!” Chess wrote in a post on Facebook. “Tonight’s overwhelming victory is a sign that the people of Stratford want change. Now the hard work begins. We’re not taking any days off; we’ll be back on doors talking with voters tomorrow. Let’s do this!”

Tuesday’s election also featured primary challenges for two Town Council seats.
In the 3rd District, endorsed candidate William M. Boyd received 139 votes, while challenger – and incumbent Councilman – Alvin L. O'Neal received 113, according to unofficial results.

In the 4th District, incumbent Councilwoman Rene M. Gibson, the endorsed candidate, received 84 votes, while challenger David Harden had 37, according to unofficial results.
