Old Lyme Bridge Work Will Slow Traffic Starting Today
The Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the bridge over I-95 at Flat Rock Hill Road in Old Lyme beginning Feb. 1 but it will affect both local and highway traffic for the foreseeable future.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin a bridge rehabilitation project today on Flat Rock Hill Road in the town of Old Lyme. The DOT will be replacing the bridge deck and parapets to the bridge that bears local traffic over I-95. It will also be making modifications to the substructure and making drainage improvements at the approaches of the bridge.
The $3.05 million project, which was awarded to New England Road, Inc. on Nov. 14, 2012, isn't scheduled to be completed until November, 2014. That is likely to have longterm affects on local traffic patterns.

- Flat Hill Rock Road - restricted to alternating one way traffic using temporary traffic signal.
- I-95 North: Monday-Thursday 7 pm to 6 am, Friday 11 pm to Saturday 7 am, Saturday 9 pm to Sunday 8 am, and Sun 9 pm to Monday 6 am.
- I-95 Southbound: Monday – Thursday 8 pm to 6 am, Fri 10 pm to Saturday 6 am, Saturday 11 pm to Sunday 8 am, and Sunday 11 pm to Monday 9 am.
