DEEP Releases Name of Man Still Missing After Going Into Connecticut River
The U.S. Coast Guard remains in charge of the recovery operation that began on Sunday.

Connecticut’s Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police released the name of the man that was reported missing on June 30 on the Connecticut River in the vicinity of Old Lyme and Old Saybrook.
Although initial reports described the man as a 58-year-old Old Saybrook resident, DEEP has identified the missing man as Yuri Kirpichev, 51, of West Springfield, Massachusetts.
Kirpichev is reported to have gone into the Connecticut River in an attempt to retrieve his fishing pole that had fallen into the water. Three other people on the boat with Mr. Kirpichev were safely brought to shore by emergency personnel.

The United States Coast Guard remains in charge of the recovery operations assisted by DEEP EnCon Police and the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit. DEEP EnCon Police are in charge of the boating-related incident.
