East Lyme Man Reported Missing On Thursday Found Dead In Niantic

A Silver Alert issued last week for Timothy Sullivan ends sadly.

State police have identified a body found under a house on Atlantic Street in Niantic on Sunday, April 28, is that of Timothy Sullivan, 39, of East Lyme.

Police issued a Silver Alert for Sullivan on Thursday, April 25, after his parents reported him missing. The initial alert stated that he had been missing since April 18.

The Norwich Bulletin reported that Sullivan's body was discovered by a homeowner on Atlantic Street on Sunday who noticed a man lying underneath the raised beach house. Police and first responders pronounced him dead at the scene, the Bulletin writes. His body has been taken to the Office of the State's Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

State police told the Bulletin there is "no criminal aspect" to the case and that Sullivan had a history of alcoholism, depression, and had attempted suicide in the past.
