On Monday, the Old Lyme Board of Selectmen voted to boost the town fees for temporary 60-day gun permits from $35 to $70. This brings the town in line with other municipalities, which have been charging $70 for some time now.
Since the shooting in Newtown, more people have applied for gun permits than ever. At the same time, state laws have also changed to tighten the requirements for gun permits.
"The process is getting more labor intensive," said Old Lyme First Selectwoman Bonnie Reemsnyder. "We have been extremely busy with these as have all the other towns."
Do you want to know more about how Connecticut's newest legislation affects gun ownership? Do you need help navigating the sometimes complicated world of gun permits?
Or perhaps you're looking to learn more about the nation's current debate on Second Amendment issues?
