Old Saybrook's Dock & Dine Opens For The Season

The town of Old Saybrook made an exception to the rules to allow the popular dockside restaurant to make repairs needed due to heavy storm damage to allow it to open for the summer season.

The popular Dock & Dine at Old Saybrook Point opened for the season on Friday. The restaurant was flooded out twice in the last two major storms and the owners spent tens of thousands of dollars to rebuild after the last one. Now they've rebuilt again just to open for the summer.

According to the restaurant's web site, the town of Old Saybrook granted a one-time exception to the usual permitting process to allow the restaurant to remove the damaged portion of the restaurant and repair some of the interior that was damaged so the restaurant could open on a temporary basis for the summer season.

At the of the season, once all the permits are in place and building plans approved, the owners will be tearing the entire building down and reconstructing it on pilings.

Dock & Dine is located dockside at 145 College Street in Old Saybrook. According to Dock & Dine's Facebook page, it's open for business from 11:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. For more information call (860) 388-4665.
