Police Investigate Student With BB Guns At Vinal Tech High School in Middletown

Arrest and incident report information is provided by State Police Troop E, Troop F, and East Lyme Police Department. An arrest does not signify a conviction.

 

On December 17, State Police from Troop F responded to a report of a student with guns at a Vinal Tech High School facility on Daniels Street in Middletown. According to the police report, a faculty member received information of a note found in a bathroom that stated "senior has guns in car."

School administrators conducted a search of all the students' vehicles in the school parking lot and found two air guns ("BB guns") inside the trunk of one of the student's vehicles.

December 14

Thaddeus R. Rahmlow, 46, of 14 Park Lane, Niantic, was located by bail enforcement officers at the Niantic Inn and taken into custody on two outstanding PRAWN (Paperless Arrest Warrant Network) warrants. He was charged with failure to appear. Bond was set at $50,000. 

December 15

Thomas H. Szawerda, 49, of 1594 Route 85 in Uncasville was arrested on an active arrest warrant from East Lyme Police Department stemming from an incident that occurred on Atlantic Street in East Lyme on August 30, 2012. Szawerda was apprehended during an unrelated incident. The warrant charges him with reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, evading responsibility, and unsafe backing. Bond was set at $25,000.
