The Daily Five: A Potential Shadow Over A Sunny Proposition, Dog Daze, and Let's Celebrate Pi!
Five things to know for East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme on Thursday, March 14, 2013

1. Expect a sunny morning followed by a cloudy afternoon. There's a chance of rain showers, possibly even a few flurries later today, according to Weather.com. The high temperature will top out at 36 degrees and drop to 22 overnight. There's a 10 percent chance of precipitation.
2. The Connecticut Siting Council will hold a hearing today at the East Lyme Town Hall on an application to establish a solar energy farm at 40 Grassy Hill Road in East Lyme. There will be a field review of the site at 2 p.m. and town officials and intervenors will be able to add their comments at 3 p.m. The public will have an opportunity to weigh-in on the proposal at 7 p.m.

It's perhaps worth noting here that the Connecticut Legislature is currently considering a bill that would exempt solar power energy generators from property taxes. East Lyme First Selectman Paul Formica noted that if that proposal passes, the town stands to lose revenue from the site, which was originally slated to be subdivided for houses.
3. Dogs are marvelous companions but they can have some pretty annoying habits. As a puppy, my dog decided to cut her teeth on books, slippers, and once managed to chew her way through an entire couch! Is your dog a dumpster diver? A counter surfer? Impossible to walk on a leash? Doesn't play well with others or guards the food bowl?
