The Daily Five: All Budgets, All the Time, in East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme

1. We might see a few flurries on what promises to be a mostly cloudy day. Weather.com is predicting a high temperature of 35 degrees, an overnight low of 21 degrees, and winds of 15 to 25 mph. 

2. East Lyme Board of Selectmen meets tonight for a special meeting to discuss proposed budgets for Public Works, Engineering, IT, and Building Maintenance at 6:30 p.m.

The regular Board of Selectmen's meeting will follow, at which the board will be discussing the budgets proposed for Police, Parks and Recreation, Debt and Capital Improvement.

The board will also discuss how the governor's proposed budget for the state could impact the town.  

3. Lyme-Old Lyme school district will present its proposed budget to voters at a public forum at Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School auditorium tonight at 6:30 p.m. The Board of Education could opt to vote on accepting the budget following the meeting, so if you've got something to say, now's the time. 

4. There have been a couple of burglaries reported in Lyme recently. In both cases, no one was home and door was forced open. Police are investigating both break-ins and urge anyone with any information to call State Police Troop F at 860-391-2100. 5. Gov. Dannel Malloy stopped at an ice cream shop in Manchester yesterday to tout the merits of his new energy strategy because the store recently converted to natural gas, which cut its energy bills in half. The governor could just have easily stopped in East Lyme, where the school district is realizing big savings since making the same conversion. Apparently, we're one step ahead.
