The Daily Five: Hoisting the Flag, Hosting a Meeting, And Happy Easter!
Five things to know for East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme on Friday, March 29, 2013.

1. Today will be mostly sunny with just a few clouds in the afternoon and a few more this evening, when there's a 10 percent chance of rain. Weather.com is predicting a high temperature of 53 degrees—that's the first time we've hit the 50s this year and we're going to stay there through the weekend. The overnight low will drop to a relatively warm 35 degrees.
2. If you didn't have the chance to attend the first public presentation of Old Lyme's proposal to study options for treating sewage while still steering clear of sewers, there will be a second presentation tomorrow at Old Lyme Town Hall at 11 a.m. The presentation includes a brief history and overview of the project and ample opportunity to ask questions about the town's proposal to establish a wastewater treatment facility in town.

3. Governor Dannel P. Malloy directed flags to full-staff at sunset today. Flags were initially lowered in honor of while serving in Afghanistan and laid to rest on Wednesday.
Flags were flying at half-staff again, however, in honor of Marine Lance Corporal Roger W. Muchnick Jr., 23, who was killed in a training accident in Nevada. Lance Corporal Muchnick will be buried in Massachusetts on Friday.

4. If you're looking for more signs of spring, there's one coming up on Monday when the Hadlyme Ferry starts service again. There's a special celebration planned to welcome the ferry crew back on April 1 at 4:45 p.m. on the Hadlyme side of the dock. Bring something yummy to share if you can but keep it nonalcoholic, please.
5. Happy Easter! Don't forget to vote in our Peeps contest! You have until March 31 to do it and there are some crazy and creative entries to choose from! Princess and the Peep, anyone?
