As a reporter I spend a lot of time at town meetings but none are as fun—or as well attended—as the monthly town meetings at Lyme Consolidated School.
The room was packed with parents for the final meeting of the year on Friday afternoon, and cheers were audible from Town Hall as students were honored for their accomplishments and the school's dance group and the staff of the school's newspaper gave special presentations.
Previous meetings have recognized the activities of school senate members, charitable fundraisers that have included food drives and purchases of mosquito nets for children in Central America. The aim of the program is to get every student on stage at least once and recognize everyone for their accomplishments.
