Watch Out For Hazards Caused by Freezing Temperatures and High Winds Today
A special weather statement issued for East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme

We all saw much more snow than forecasters were predicting yesterday and that could continue to present a few hazards today.
The National Weather Service issued a high wind advisory from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. this evening. The winds, blowing northwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph, will be strongest this afternoon. Given the heavy, wet snow on trees and powerlines, that could lead to power outages if winds blow lines or tree branches down.

Temperatures will remain below freezing all day, with a high temperature of just 30 degrees, according to Weather.com. That means roads could remain slick and icy throughout the day. The National Weather Service is recommending people be extra careful on the roads and watch out for patches of black ice.
Having said all that, it certainly does look pretty out there today. I've posted a picture taken at sunrise this morning. Share your snow pictures with us by posting them on Patch!
