What's Happening This Week In East Lyme, Old Lyme, and Lyme?

A Referendum on the Lyme-Old Lyme School Budget is the big civic event of the week but there are plenty of meetings and a number of events that you won't want to miss.

Monday, May 6 

Meetings

  • The Lyme Board of Selectmen meets as usual at 3:30 p.m. at Lyme Town Hall. 
  • The Old Lyme Board of Selectmen will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Old Lyme Memorial Town Hall. Here's the agenda.
  • The Annual Budget Meeting and Vote for the Regional School District No. 18 will be held at Regional School District No. 18, Lyme-Old Lyme Middle School Auditorium, 53 Lyme Street, Old Lyme, Connecticut at 7:30 p.m. to adopt a budget of $31,741,789 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 as recommended by the Regional School Board.
  • Darrow Pond Open Space Committee, East Lyme Town Hall at 5:30 p.m.      
  • East Lyme Inland Wetlands, East Lyme Town Hall, 7:00 p.m.

Victorian Secrets Book Discussion, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

Tuesday, May 7

It's time to vote! Residents of Lyme and Old Lyme should go to polling places today to cast their ballots in a referendum of the proposed District 18 school budget. Voting will take place from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
  • Hamburg Fire Station, Route 156, Lyme  
  • Cross Lane Fire House, Cross Lane, Old Lyme 
You'll find a copy of the budget online or you can pick one up at Central Office, LOL Middle School, 53 Lyme Street, Old Lyme.

  • East Lyme Water and Sewer Commission, 6:00 p.m. at East Lyme Town Hall.
  • East Lyme Planning Commission, 7:00 p.m. at East Lyme Town Hall. 
Wednesday, May 8

Meetings

  • The Lower Connecticut Valley Selectmen's Association meets today at  8:30 a.m. at 145 Dennison Road, Essex.
  • Roger's Lake Authority meets at 7:30 p.m.  Rogers Lake Clubhouse, Rogers Lake Trail, in Old Lyme.
  • East Lyme Conservation of Natural Resources at 7:00 p.m., East Lyme Town Hall       
  • East Lyme Inland Wetlands, East Lyme Town Hall, 7:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 9

Meetings

  • Old Lyme Planning Commission meets at 7:00 p.m., in the 2nd Room Conference Room of Old Lyme Town Hall.

Friday, May 10

Meetings
  • Old Lyme Open Space Commission meets at 8:30 a.m. at Old Lyme Town Hall.

Events
  • Preserving Old Lyme's Historic and Cultural Resources, 6th annual dinner and lecture presented by Dr. John Pfeiffer at 6 p.m. at Lymes' Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Road, Old Lyme. 
  • Fundraiser for East Lyme Historical Society and Friends of Samuel Smith House at the Niantic Sportsmen's Club, 68 Plants Dam Road, East Lyme at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person and include dinner, music by Dan Stevens and a silent auction. Call (860) 739-2732.  
Saturday, May 11

Events

  • Tour de Lyme, sponsored by the Lymes Land Conservation Trust, featuring a variety of road rides for cyclists of all ages and abilities starting at 9 a.m. 
  • Old Orchard Farm, 22A Scott Road in East Lyme will be holding Wine & Cheese Tasting at the barn at 7pm. The cost is $15 at the door and includes musical entertainment by Carl Suiter, Clayton Allen and "Larravee" John Gavin.
