You Can Save A Life On Saturday

A simple cheek swab at a Bone Marrowthon at East Lyme High School on Saturday could help save someone suffering from Leukemia, Lymphoma, blood cancer, or sickle cell disease.

On Saturday, you have a chance to save a life by participating in a rather unusual event. It's a Bone Marrowthon and it's being held at East Lyme High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Show up for a simple cheek swab and you'll be entered in a donor registry for bone marrow that, if you prove to be a match, could help a child like Brynn Levitsky.

It's easy to understand how important this is when you read her story, posted on Facebook.

"On Friday, October 19, 2012, Brynn Levitsky’s life took a drastic change in course. At 22-months, she was running around, playing with her dog, swinging on her swing set and living life to the fullest. However, on that rainy Friday, Brynn was not acting like herself. Her mother called the doctor and insisted that she be seen for the second time that week. Thank God she made that call. Later that evening, Brynn was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid
Leukemia (AML).

Currently, Brynn is completing her last rounds of chemotherapy. Her courage, strength and happiness have been contagious throughout this whole process, but it’s not over yet. We are all hoping that Brynn will never need a bone marrow transplant, but we can’t say that for sure. While she may not need a donor at this time, there are still thousands of people all over the world waiting for their perfect match. With a simple cheek swab, you have the ability to save someone’s life!"

Your participation this Saturday will give hope to people suffering from Leukemia, Lymphoma, blood cancer, and sickle cell disease.
