108 MPH Driver To State Cops In Tolland: 'I was Late Getting Home'
A driver clocked at 108 mph in Tolland had a simple excuse for going so fast, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — A teenage driver caught doing 108 mph on a stretch of Interstate 84 through Tolland and Vernon had a straightforward answer when asked by a state trooper why he was going so fast.
"I was late getting home," he said, according to an arrest report.
The incident took place on Nov. 11, state police said, and the driver, an 18-year-old from New Milford, was charged with reckless driving at better than 85 mph, operating a motor vehicle to endanger an occupant and a lane violation.

A state trooper on a speed enforcement detail first encountered the teen's 2016 Honda CR-V near Exit 69 in the westbound side of the highway, according to an arrest report. It took the trooper several miles to catch up to the compact sport utility vehicle after it registered on a laser unit as going 108 mph.
It was finally pulled over at Exit 66 in Vernon, according to an arrest report.
