2025 Future Leaders: Tolland Students Excel At CT DECA Competition

TOLLAND, CT — Patch and T-Mobile are teaming up to present a look at future leaders in the community. Recently, Tolland High School students shined at the 2025 CT DECA State Competition.

THS DECA brought 39 students to compete at the Connecticut DECA state competition. With more than 1,400 students competing in a variety of business categories, Tolland DECA received 15 medals with eight students qualifying for the International DECA Competition in Orlando, FL, in April.

International qualifiers and medalists include: Sophia Cunningham (1st), Cecilia Ruiz-Giro (1st), Wilsey Zahner (1st), Madelyn Katzer (2nd), Ryan Herd (2nd), John Sleeman (3rd), Michaela DiCicco & Kayla House (4th-team), Juliet Carey & Meerah Shaikh (4th-team), Audrey McKown & Aashvi Shah (4th-team), Will Murphy (5th), Danny Tarasyuk (5th), and Michael Wiggins (5th).
