4th of July Sign Vandalized

"No kings in America"

The Tolland Democratic Town Committee expresses deep disappointment and concern over the repeated acts of vandalism targeting private property in our community. This marks the fourth time a sign, proudly displayed on private property, has been vandalized. The message was erected on July 4th to celebrate American independence and to honor the enduring principle that our nation will never again be ruled by a king.
July 4th, 1776, is a date of immense historical significance. On this day, the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence, asserting the American colonies' right to self-governance and freedom from monarchical rule. This bold declaration laid the foundation for a nation built on the principles of liberty, equality, and democracy. It is a day to remember the courage and vision of our founding fathers and to celebrate the freedoms we cherish as Americans.
The message on the sign reflects this proud heritage and our commitment to upholding the values of democracy and independence. The repeated vandalism of this sign is not just an attack on private property; it is an attack on the very principles that our nation was founded upon. Such actions are unacceptable and do not reflect the values of our community.
We urge those responsible to reflect on the importance of respecting private property and the expression of free speech. We also call upon our fellow residents to stand united against such acts of vandalism and to promote a culture of respect and understanding.
As a community, we must work together to ensure that Tolland remains a place where the ideals of democracy, freedom, and mutual respect are upheld. We thank those who have shown support and solidarity during this time, and we remain committed to fostering a community where every individual's rights are respected.
