1. Campbell’s Peaceful Valley Loop

An easy 2.7-mile scenic loop trail winding through woodland, wetlands, open pasture and two rocky ridge overlooks. The trail has approximately 150 feet of elevation gain, climbing to an 850-foot ridge line, and connects to nearby conservation areas, such as Stoppleworth, for extended exploration.


2. Pedal Power Trail

This moderate 1.6-mile loop features a mix of single-track trails and gentle climbs, making it ideal for hikers seeking a challenge close to town. With approximately 315 feet of elevation gain, the varied terrain and wooded setting make it popular for walkers and trail runners alike.


3. Crandall Park Trail System

With approximately five miles of trails winding through woodlands and surrounding two scenic ponds, Crandall Park provides ideal terrain for hiking, mountain biking or a family nature day. Well-maintained paths and easy parking make it a local favorite.


4. John H. Weigold Conservation Area

A peaceful one-mile loop passing a ledge riding above Cemetery Brook, with vernal pools and old millpond remnants. Its varied topography offers a surprisingly rich mini-hike right on the forest edge.


5. Nye-Holman State Forest

This 787-acre state forest offers miles of forested trails along the Willimantic River, with fishing, birdwatching and secluded archery sites. A great spot to immerse yourself in diverse woodland terrain.


6. Stoppleworth Conservation Area
