TOLLAND, CT — A high-speed passing incident In Tolland and Vernon has landed a driver with a variety of charges, state police said.
Sonny James Barber, 35, of Plainfield, was charged via a warrant with failure to display plates, driving while under suspension, reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, failure to maintain the proper lane and first-degree reckless endangerment.
He is being held on a $25,000 bond and is expected in Rockville Superior Court on Dec. 16, according to judicial system records.

A warrant was issued for Barber's arrest in connection with a Sept. 11 incident.
That day, state police from Troop C notified state police from Troop C that Barber was headed toward Tolland County to pick up narcotics. Then, at 9:32 p.m., a trooper positioned near Exit 66 in Vernon noticed a gray Toyota Tacoma approaching with a plate assigned to a different vehicle, according to a warrant.

The driver of the Tacoma accelerated to 99 mph in an effort to elude the trooper and used the shoulder to pass a box truck and proceeded into Tolland on the highway, according to a warrant.
The Tacoma had been reported stolen after its owner dropped it off at a shop to have the brakes fixed, according to a warrant.
The incident was then connected to Barber being the driver state police said in. warrant.
