Community Activist Merry C. Garrett Working Across State Districts
Mrs. Garrett spent another weekend fighting for the 35th District working with legislators across several districts.
🇺🇸 So many were doing the important work this past weekend via the Working Families Party Second Annual two day conference.
- Working together for working people unionized & non- unionized, Veterans, retirees, people with disabilities, our children and many others. 🗽
Merry said, "Working together/collaborating across districts we can get the votes needed to pass legislation to improve the lives of all Connecticut residents. If others who are in office that are supposed to represent us will not do it and regularly vote against the common good we will simply work our way around them. Some Democrats and Republicans alike are responsible for the outcome of the previous election cycle. Now, some regret how they voted or didn't vote. There's an opportunity for rectification with the up-and-coming municipal races."
The past weekend there were passionate conversations, debates and work on the topics of organizing, needs of children, senior citizens, the state's financial guardrails, unions, taxes, household expenses, education, economic development, voting and other topics. "The time is right now for meaningful change voters can put their finger on. I've heard them and concur as a voter, citizen, mother, community activist, early retiree, volunteer and wife. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired. The wait is over. We want concrete results, now."

Merry C. Garrett is a successful business woman and 25-year resident of Tolland Connecticut. She ran for the 35th District State Senate seat in 2024 and received OVER 47% of the vote in a very close race for a seat that's been held by Republicans for over 40 years. Currently, she's running in the 2025 municipal race for Tolland's Zoning Board of Appeals.
