Councilor Yudichak Voting Yes on Referendum Tuesday, June 18th
Colleen Yudichak explains why a YES vote is essential.

Dear Tolland Residents,
The fourth referendum, a crucial step in our community's budget approval process, will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Since March, the Town Council has been working diligently to find a budget that will receive voters' approval.
Could this budget be better, of course? Every budget is flawed, and the Town Council must make difficult decisions on where to reduce. Ultimately, the voters have a voice in the budget if it is too high.

However, considering that the average overall spending in our community that has passed in recent budget years the average has been between 0% and 3%, the overall town budget spending on this ballot is 3.44%, which has decreased from 4.89% at the first referendum.
The budget to be voted on Tuesday is of utmost importance. It is a conservative budget that has required significant sacrifices since the beginning of the budget season due to 3 failed referendums.

If this budget passes, the Town and BoE will have a budget in place for fiscal year 2024-2025. If it fails, we will revert to our previous budget until a budget passes, which means less funding for essential departments and the BoE and will stall any planning for the Town and School side.
I am encouraging a YES vote on Tuesday, June 18. A YES vote does not mean you have to love it or even like this budget, but we can continue our town and BoE government business without interruptions. A YES vote means a YES for ALL of Tolland.
