TOLLAND, CT — The temporary ice rink at Crandall Park is slated to open Monday and be open until further notice, town officials said.

The park lights will be on from 4 p.m. until midnight.

Though the area has had a stretch of cold weather, town officials said the rink could close as circumstances and weather dictate. The Department of Public Works will be monitoring the ice thickness, town officials said.

When the rink is closed, the area is under "no trespassing" status and "multiple security cameras are covering the area," town officials said.

  • Check ice conditions prior to use. The ice rink is dependent on weather conditions for ice quality.
  • Adult supervision is strongly suggested for children younger than 12.
  • Helmets and other protective equipment are strongly recommended.
  • No sitting or climbing on the boards
  • No one is permitted on the ice without ice skates.
  • Alcohol is prohibited.
  • Fires are prohibited.
  • No food, drinks or pets are allowed on the ice.
  • Kicking holes, chipping, or gouging the ice is prohibited.
  • The rink may be periodically closed for maintenance, if there is damage to the rink or if the ice has melted.
