Flash Flood Warning Issued For Tolland, Windham Counties
The flash flood warning expires Saturday, July 17 at 10:30 p.m.
TOLLAND, CT —The National Weather Service in Norton has extended the Flash Flood Warning for central Tolland County and west central Windham County in northern Connecticut until 10:30 p.m.
At 7:30 p.m., the Mount Hope River gauge at Warrenville was at 10.3 feet at 719 PM, this is in major flood stage. Doppler radar estimates between two and four inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms is likely to impact small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

According to the National Weather Service, some locations that will experience flash flooding include Manchester, Vernon, Mansfield, Ellington, Tolland, Coventry, Willington, Ashford and Chaplin.
When encountering flooded roads, turn around. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, warned the National Weather Service.

Meanwhile a flash flood watch still also remains in effect until Sunday, July 18 at 6 a.m. for Hartford, Tolland and Windham Counties.
Showers and thunderstorms will bring rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches through Saturday tonight with locally higher amounts possible.
