Timeline, New Details On Thunderstorms Thursday In Hartford/Tolland County

The National Weather Service released an updated weather forecast that includes the chance for thunderstorms. Here are the new details.

HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTY — The National Weather Service said that thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening as temperatures soar into the mid 70s.

The weather service said there is a "low risk" that any of the potential storms would be classified as strong.

Before we get to Thursday, Wednesday's weather forecast looks great, with sun and temperatures into the upper 60s. The wind could be gusty at times, reaching in excess of 20 mph.

Scattered rain showers are possible Thursday afternoon, and temperatures could climb to near 80 degrees. Friday's forecast looks great, with sunshine and temperatures around 70 degrees. It will be much cooler on Easter Sunday, with temperatures struggling to reach 55 degrees.

Here are the extended forecast details for northern Connecticut:

Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Light southeast wind becoming south 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers between 11pm and midnight. Increasing clouds, with a low around 53. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday: Scattered showers, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 77. South wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 70. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. South wind around 6 mph.

Saturday: A chance of showers after 9am. Partly sunny, with a high near 66. South wind 7 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Saturday Night: A chance of showers before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Southwest wind around 7 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind 7 to 11 mph.
