TOLLAND, CT — A sizable piece of ice came flying off a pickup truck on a stretch of Interstate 84 in Tolland and caused a crash during Sunday's winter storm, state police said.

According to a crash report, shortly after 11 a.m., a 2012 Audi Q5 being driven by a 35 year-old Willington man was heading east in the left-hand lane near Exit 68 when a "large block of ice" broke off the roof of a 2020 Ram 3500 pickup slightly ahead of the Audi in the right lane and hit the windshield on the driver's side of the Audi, according to a crash report.

The Audi's windshield was completely smashed, but neither the driver of the Audi and his passengers — an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman, sustained an injury, according to a crash report.
