Merry C. Garrett Sworn in Connecticut Justice of the Peace

Merry via appointment was sworn in as a State of Connecticut Justice of the Peace. In Connecticut, Justice of the Peace (JP) help increase access to justice by reducing the cost to the state and its citizens by resolving minor disputes or needs.

A JP can:

• Perform marriage ceremonies
• Administer oaths
• Take acknowledgments
• Sign affidavits
• Take depositions
• Issue subpoenas
• ...and other duties related to civil matters

Mrs. Garrett has resided in Tolland (35th District) for several decades with her daughter and husband. She serves on several committees and recently ran close 2024 race for the 35th District State Senate. She's a corporately retired Director of Regulatory Insurance Technology. Besides being civically involved in her retirement, Merry is an actress, mixed media artist and small business owner. She said, "I will always serve my state and community in some form. My family is steeped in service via law enforcement to administration and the military. I am honored to continue that service."
