Merry Garrett Sparks Hope & Disavows Racist Trump MAGA Extremists

My name is Merry C, Garrett, and I am running to be your next State Senator, representing the 35th district.

We are all appalled by the sexist, racist and bigoted language used this weekend by so many speakers at Donald Trump’s gathering of MAGA extremists in New York City. Their disgusting language was intended to dominate the news cycle and headlines in the final days of this election instead of allowing voters to concentrate on the things that matter; can we trust the candidates, do their values align with mine, and do they have the best interests of our towns, states... country at heart? Trump’s MAGA extremism is not about America. It is about him and his loyal followers.

Our campaign and Kamala Harris’s campaign is about Connecticut and America’s shared future. It is about service over self. I will defend all people against the hatred of others because a sense of justice has always flowed through my veins. It is who I am. As Trump MAGA extremists continue to foment division and hatred towards Black People, VETERANS, Puerto Ricans, Disabled People, LGBTQAI, Jewish People, Mexicans, Senior Citizens, WOMEN and so many other groups who find themselves in their sights as targets.

I want a country that lifts people up, not tears them down. We cannot remain silent. We must get involved and we must VOTE! As Maya Angelou taught us; "When someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them." This was not the first time we have seen how these people are: it's one instance in a litany of thousands. My own opponent, the MAGA extremist Jeff Gordon, is silent. He has shown us who he is through his extreme and cruel votes. VOTING RECORDS tell the truth. Bills HB 5424 - to protect women and doctors, HB5200 health accessibility for disabled people, SB01067 adequate safe health care staffing, SB00004 CT housing solutions, SB409 wage theft protection and dozens of others he voted against... Yes, his record speaks truth, and we MUST believe him.

Jeff Gordon would not condemn the KKK at a MAGA rally in New London Country. He refused to condemn the attacks of January 6 against our nation. He voted to allow hospitals to deny emergency care to women having miscarriages. Once again, he was given ample time but still refuses to condemn the racism spewing from his party this weekend Jeff Gordon has shown us who he is.

We deserve better, we deserve respect and we deserve to be heard so let's VOTE him straight out of office! There is still time to vote early! It is important and it matters.
