NORTHERN CT — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook and special weather statement for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties on Friday.

Leave plenty of distance ahead of you. Slow down and allow for extra time to reach your destination safely."

Additionally, an air quality alert is in effect from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday.

"Humidity returns Sun, Mon & Tue (July 4th), with scattered showers & t-storms too but not a washout with many hours of dry weather," the weather service said. "Drier weather Wed & Thu but highs may reach upper 80s/lower 90s."

"For the Holiday weekend, we transition back to muggier and unsettled...Tomorrow now looks like a dry day, so if you’re grilling or heading to the beach, the weather cooperates – this will likely be the best day of the 4-day weekend," according to WFSB 3 TV meteorologists. "Then, the chance for scattered showers and storms will increase Sunday, especially through the afternoon/evening hours. The humidity will be noticeably higher. Monday looks to feature more clouds than sun with isolated showers (perhaps some rumbles of thunder, but it won’t be a washout). For Tuesday, the 4th of July, it’s going to be warm and quite humid. For planning outdoor activities, you may want to have a “plan b” as isolated to scattered storms can’t be ruled out." (Watch the full WFSB 3 TV forecast here).
