TOLLAND, CT — A driver heading west on Interstate 84 just before dusk Sunday was blinded by the sun just before a crash, according to state police.

According to a crash report, at 4:16 p.m. with the sun sitting low in the sky, a vehicle was in the right westbound lane and another was merging onto the highway along the Exit 69 ramp. As the second vehicle merged into the right lane, the vehicle already on the highway slowed because of the sun's glare and a related traffic backup, according to a crash report. It was pushed across all three lanes from behind and wound up atop a concrete barrier.

The merging vehicle then crashed into an embankment, according to a crash report.
