TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland Fire Department Thursday was honoring the memory of a cherished member who died 24 years ago.
Patch and T-Mobile are spotlighting local EMTs, firefighters and police officers who are making a difference or have made a difference in their communities.
TFD photographer Robert James Cooke known in local circles as "Jim" or "Cookie," died in a motor vehicle accident on June 5, 2001 after leaving the Tolland Fire Training Center, where his photographs were kept.
Cooke served as the Tolland Fire Department's photographer from the late 1980s until 2001.
"Jim took many photos at calls, trainings, and events where many of his photos have been shown in historical posts," fire officials said. "Please take a moment to remember and honor Jim for making the ultimate sacrifice. You will always be remembered."
