Town Council Endorsement For Chris Moran

Former Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman endorses Town Council Vice Chair Chris Moran for reelection

It is my pleasure to endorse Chris Moran for his second term on the Tolland Town Council. As a Tolland resident who has served on the Tolland Board of Education, and as a State Representative, Comptroller, and ultimately Lt. Governor, I am keenly aware of the importance of electing dedicated, ethical, and hardworking individuals to serve our community. Chris embodies these qualities, and Tolland would be lucky to have him continue his service on the Town Council.

Chris and his husband, Cris, are raising their four-year-old son and almost two-year-old daughter in Tolland. Having young children makes Chris particularly aware of the need to ensure Tolland's long-term success. He is a strategic thinker who makes decisions with the best interests of all residents in mind, from our students to our seniors. This forward-thinking mentality is critical to ensuring that Tolland continues to be the perfect place to live, raise a family, and retire for years to come.

Chris' leadership on the Town Council is invaluable. He currently serves as the Town Council Vice Chair where he works collaboratively to do what is right and deliver results for our town. As an attorney, Chris is often called to work with others of varying viewpoints during contentious disagreements to reach a consensus acceptable to both parties. It is no surprise that Chris uses this experience to work with all members of the Council, regardless of political affiliation. It is easy for someone to constantly be a naysayer and point the finger at others for challenges the town faces. That is not Chris. Chris does the hard work of preparing for meetings and thinking resourcefully about ways to solve town problems. Chris is the leader Tolland deserves.

During this past budget cycle, Tolland residents faced an unprecedented shift in tax burden from commercial property owners to residential property owners. It takes a true leader to navigate such a difficult situation while also facing the tough reality that the town must be able to continue to provide critical services. As Vice Chair, Chris worked collaboratively with Chairman Marie and four other Democrat and Republican Councilors to arrive at a bi-partisan budget that was passed out of Council with only one no vote, which residents ultimately approved at referendum. If you are looking for a smart, dedicated councilor—not someone who simply creates problems but provides solutions—I can think of no better person than Chris Moran.

In the past two years, Chris has proven himself to be a capable leader who listens objectively and brings a much-needed calm demeanor to Council meetings. Tolland's future is bright with leaders like Chris volunteering their time to better our community. Chris is a voice for all Tolland residents. That is why I enthusiastically endorse Chris Moran for Tolland Town Council in the November 4th municipal election.
