Troop C State Police Dog Finds Special Needs Child Who Wandered From Home

TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — State Police Troop C canine Zeke lent a large paw in efforts to find a special needs child who wandered from home this week.

State police detailed Zeke's heroics Thursday.

State police said that, on Tuesday, at 8:06 p.m., Troop C report of a missing special needs juvenile who had walked away from home.

Troopers responded immediately and requested assistance from Zeke and his handler, Trooper Matthew Abbate.

The team quickly established a track and successfully located the juvenile asleep in a sand pit within a construction yard, state police said.

The child received "appropriate medical care" and was safely reunited with parents, state police said.
