TRUMBULL, CT — Three stores in Trumbull were recently cited during surprise alcohol compliance inspections at seven local businesses, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Brian Weir said the alcohol compliance checks were conducted Thursday by state officials and police, with assistance from Trumbull's Partnership Against Under-Age Drinking.
According to Weir, the following local businesses failed a compliance test and violated state law by selling alcoholic beverages to a minor: Main Street Wine & Liquor, Wines & Hops and Wine 52.

The inspections were performed to "determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of alcohol products to youth under the age of 21," according to Weir.
Underage youths assisted in these alcohol checks, under the direction and supervision of Liquor Control Division investigators, by entering the businesses and trying to purchase alcohol, Weir said.

"A Liquor Control agent then took the enforcement action against each of these establishments for violating the alcohol sales," Weir said in a news release. "Each business in violation will also be referred to the legal representative of the State Liquor Commission for potentially further enforcement action."
