5 Teens Arrested After Stolen Car Crashes Into Tree In Trumbull: Police

TRUMBULL, CT — Five teens were arrested early Sunday morning after a stolen car crashed into a tree in Trumbull, according to police.

In a news release, police said Trumbull officers helped Monroe police arrest three 13-year-olds, one 15-year-old and one 16- year-old after a stolen vehicle crashed into a tree near a commuter lot on Main Street and Broadway Road just after midnight.

Prior to the crash, Monroe and Newtown police had notified surrounding towns about the stolen vehicle, which was believed to be involved in some vehicle break-ins, according to police.

After the crash, the five teens took off running but were found in the area by officers with help from state police, according to police.

All five teens were arrested and charged by the Monroe Police Department, police said.

"The Trumbull police would also like to remind all residents that this continued trend of thefts from and of cars has not stopped," police said in a news release. "Please report any suspicious activity as soon as it is seen."
