Updated: Body In Trumbull is Missing College Student; Suspect Held on $1M Bond

Murder suspect Jermaine V. Richards is being held in lieu of $1 million bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court June 25. He has not yet entered a plea.

A Bridgeport man is in State Police custody, charged with the kidnapping and murder of Alyssiah Marie Wiley, an Eastern Connecticut State University student whose body was found in the woods off Quarry Road in Trumbull on Friday.
According to the Connecticut Post newspaper, Jermaine Richards, 30, surrendered to police Saturday at Troop G Barracks in Bridgeport. He was being held without bond pending arraignment in state Superior Court on Monday, and the arrest warrant has been sealed, the paper stated.
The Post said the suspect lives "just on the other side" of the Route 25/8 connector from where the remains of Wiley's body were found.

State Police say the body found Friday morning in the woods off Quarry Road is that of Alyssiah Marie Wiley, 20. 
The identification was made by the Connecticut State Forensic Lab in Meriden using DNA, said state police Lt. J. Paul Vance.  
"The office of the Chief States Medical Examiner will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the manner and cause of death," he added. "State Police Eastern District and Western District Major Crime Squads are continuing the criminal investigation."
