What's happening at the Trumbull Library.

Friends' of the Library Book Nook Sale.  Sat. Dec. 1, 9am - 3pmFriends of the Trumbull Library sales are the first Saturday of each month from September through June.  For information or to volunteer, call the Library or get contact information at their website.

How to Fund College Without Going Broke.  Sat. Dec. 1, 11am - 12:15pm.  Trumbull resident Mike Dailey's excellent class covering the best way to manage the expense.  See where you are and how you can get there!  Program includes a family financial run. Register. Free. 

Teens: SAT/ACT Practice Tests.  Sun. Dec. 2, 1 – 5pm.  Confused about which test you should take?  Should you take both?  This is a combination practice exam for both ACT and SAT to help familiarize students with both tests.  Presented by Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.  Results and test strategies session will follow on December 17 at 6pm in the Merwin Room.   Please reserve for both.  Registration required.  Free.

Suminagashi Workshop: Japanese Paper and Ink Art, for Teens and Tweens.  Tues. Dec. 4, 3 – 5pm.  Create beautifully designed papers by floating colored inks on water and transferring them in this paper-marbling workshop run by Trumbull librarian and art enthusiast Suzanne Uznanski!  Registration limited to 12.  Free.   

Non-Fiction Discussion Group:  The Director's Club! Brown Bag Lunch Meeting.  Wed. Dec. 5, 12 – 1pm.  Today’s title is Sandra Day O'Connor: How the First Woman on the Supreme Court Became It's Most Influential Justice, by Joan Biskupic. Based on hundreds of interviews (etc.), and her insight covering the Supreme Court, Biskupic offers a portrait of a multifaceted woman.  O’Connor evolves from tentative jurist to confident architect of American law.  Check at the Library for copies of upcoming titles; suggestions welcome!  Drop by if you'd like to join!

Children’s Events

 

Family Chess Club. Sat. Dec. 1, 10am - 12pm.  Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children's Section with your own board, or come to watch.  Club meets the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends).  Free.

Storytime for 2's. Tues. Dec. 4, 9:30 – 10am. Toddlers bring your caregivers! Stories, music and an easy craft round out a fun morning. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull, only. Space limited. Register. 

Storytime for 2 ½ - 3 Year Olds.  Tues. Dec. 4, 10:30–11am or Wed. Dec. 5, 9:30-10am. Eye-catching books, fingerplays, music, and a themed craft make for a wonderful learning experience for our young pre-readers. Trumbull children or caregivers.  Register.  

Storytime for 4's & 5's. Tues. Dec. 4, 11 – 11:30am. Storytime friends gather to hear age appropriate stories and create a take-home craft. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull only. Space limited. Register.  

Baby Cafe - 6 months to 2 years.  Wed. Dec. 5 & Thurs. Dec. 6, 11 – 11:30am. Baby's first introduction to the library! Babies and caregivers can expect a jam-packed session of rhythm and rhymes guaranteed to enchant our littlest explorers. Drop in! 

 

Fairchild Nichols Branch

 

Storytime for 4’s at the Branch. Tues. Dec. 4, 10:15 – 10:45am.  Come for a morning of music, stories, and a craft. Caregivers are asked to remain in the Children's Services area. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull only. Space limited; register.

Robert the Guitar Guy: Ages 1-4 @ the Fairchild-Nichols Branch.  Wed. Dec. 5, 11:15 - 11:45am.  Dance and sing along with Robert Markowitz, children’s singer, guitarist, songwriter.  He uses music, rhythm, movement, humor, role playing, storytelling and props in his interactive show for children.  Trumbull residents.  Drop in.

Fairchild Baby Café for ages 6 months to 2 years.  Thurs. Dec. 6, 10:15 – 10:45am. Introduce your little one to books, music, rhymes and finger play to bond, have fun and increase early literacy skills! Children or caregivers living in Trumbull, only. Drop in.

Storytime for 2’s and 3’s at the Branch.  Thurs. Dec. 6, 11 – 11:30am. We will have a little bit of music, a little bit of dancing, a lot of stories and a show stopping craft. Children or caregivers living in Trumbull only. Space limited. Register.
