Driver Seriously Injured, Highway Shut Down After Trumbull Crash
A rollover accident early Friday morning shut down a section of the Merritt Parkway, according to a report.

TRUMBULL, CT — Emergency responders had to extricate a person trapped in a car after a crash early Friday morning, according to a post from Long Hill Volunteer Fire Co. #1.
The single-car accident was reported in the area of exit 47 on Route 15 northbound at 3:49 a.m.
Firefighters arrived and found the car with one person trapped in it in the median between the exit 47 on- and off-ramps.

Crews were able to remove the person within five minutes, according to the post.
The car involved, a 2019 Mazda 3 Preferred, drove off the road into the grass median and hit a tree, according to a state police accident report.

The crash shut down the highway between exits 46 and 47, WFSB 3-TV reported.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS, according to state police.
State police are investigating.
